Paralegal III Duties: Will work under general supervision, candidate will handle varied aspects of legal maintenance of mutual funds, such as preparation of initial and amended registration statements, proxy statements, prospectus supplements and other mutual fund SEC submissions; gather, prepare documentation for, and record minutes for fund Board meetings; and maintenance of fund records for assigned funds. Many of these duties involve working with external fund counsel, internal compliance administrators, financial printers and external auditors. Each of these duties must be accomplished according to timelines which candidate will create, monitor adherence to, and maintain. Will also work on additional projects/duties as assigned.
Qualifications: College graduate and certificate in paralegal studies from an acceptable institution desired, though will consider level of previous paralegal experience in lieu of paralegal certificate. An Associate's degree. 3+ years of experience as a paralegal, ideally in a mutual fund or other corporate financial services or law firm environment with exposure to securities matters. Strong organizational and proofreading skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both oral and written), and above average drafting/writing skills. Resourcefulness in problem-solving and ability to research applicable rules and regulations. Ability to establish priorities and work concurrently on a variety of projects. Strong computer skills required, including excellent typing skills, in depth understanding of Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel, as well as other software programs necessary for job performance. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Preferred: Knowledge of mutual funds and NASD rules.
